MINORITY CELL

Objectives

Minority Cell has been constituted in the College with the purpose of empowering the minority communities in the college. The cell basically helps minority students including Christian, Muslim etc. for their academic development. The cell has been constituted with the objective of encouraging minority students to enrol for career orientation programmes which would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose an appropriate career. It also facilitates procurement of financial support from government agencies and other sources:

Functions:

  • Cultural Preservation: Preserve and promote the cultural heritage of minority communities within the college campus.

  • Scholarship Distribution: Facilitate the fair and transparent distribution of scholarships and financial aid to deserving minority students.

  • Skill Development: Provide skill development opportunities to enhance the employability of minority students after graduation.

  • Educational Excellence: Encourage academic excellence among minority students by providing resources and mentorship.

These objectives aim to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment for minority students and ensuring they have equal opportunities to excel in their academic pursuits.

Activities:

  • Minority cell in association with Kerala Government Minority Welfare Department conducted a ‘One Day Training Program – PASSWORD 2022-23’ on 2023 February 25, Saturday at St. John’s College. Students from four colleges were participated in the training.

Scholarships:

Minority cell helped students from minority communities obtain financial support from governmental agencies.

Placement activities are also carried out in the current year in which special preference was given to these students.

Objectives of a Minority Cell in an Aided College:

Equal Access: Ensure that minority students have equal access to education, irrespective of their socio-economic background.
